'Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars: Battleworld' Reveals Mysteries of the Original 'Secret Wars'

In 1984, Marvel introduced readers to a groundbreaking saga, "Secret Wars," where the mightiest heroes and most formidable villains were pitched against each other on Battleworld by the omnipotent Beyonder. As the 40th anniversary of this iconic series approaches, Marvel is set to release a new four-issue limited series titled "MARVEL SUPER HEROES SECRET WARS: BATTLEWORLD" in November. This series, announced at San Diego Comic-Con, is penned by industry legend Tom DeFalco, who was the editor of the original Secret Wars, and illustrated by renowned artist Pat Olliffe.

The new series promises to unveil secrets from the original storyline, offering insights into the Beyonder's true intentions and introducing characters previously unknown to have participated in the Secret Wars. The narrative will prominently feature superheroes Spider-Man and the Human Torch, providing a fresh perspective on the events of the original series.

Tom DeFalco expressed the challenge and excitement of revisiting such a classic Marvel story, emphasizing the tale's lasting impact on the Marvel Universe. Editor Mark Basso hinted at deeper connections to the original Secret Wars, suggesting that long-time fans might find familiar elements beyond just the comic pages.

The first issue of "MARVEL SUPER HEROES SECRET WARS: BATTLEWORLD" is set to hit the shelves on November 22, with various cover designs by artists including Ryan Stegman, Todd Nauck, and Pat Olliffe.
